Laura Gordon, MD
Laura Gordon, MD is a board-certified urologist who cares for men, women and children with all kinds of urological concerns. She is especially interested in male and female voiding dysfunction and incontinence, female pelvic organ prolapse, and kidney stones, including medical treatment to prevent stone formation.
A fourth-generation native of California, Dr. Gordon received her undergraduate degree from the University of Southern California. She attended medical school at Northwestern University in Chicago. She did her surgical internship/residency and urology residency at the University of California, Los Angeles. She was a Lieutenant Commander in the Navy Medical Corps, practicing at the Naval Hospitals in San Diego and Long Beach, California. After her discharge from the Navy, she had an independent solo practice in Pendleton, Oregon for a number of years before joining Northwest Urology to practice in a similar rural setting in Seaside, Oregon.
Dr. Gordon feels her role is to be a patient’s adviser. “I need to make an accurate diagnosis, then, just as importantly, I need to be sure the patient understands what it means and what the options for treatment are so he or she can make the best informed decision.” She is pleased to be part of Northwest Urology, where she has the opportunity to provide care in her areas of expertise, but also to refer patients to her partners to provide urological surgical care that would not be possible in a rural setting. “It is gratifying that my partners are often regional experts in the problems that Seaside’s critical access hospital isn’t equipped to treat.”
Dr. Gordon is happy to be living on the coast, with all its opportunities to get out in the great outdoors and hike, or just walk on the beach. She enjoys music and is an amateur cellist (“Amateur in the original sense of the word-I love it but I am not very good!”). She and her husband, also a physician, have two adult children.
