Sara Spettel, MD

Sara Spettel, MD is a board-certified urologist who cares for a broad range of adult urological concerns. Her special interests include both female and male voiding dysfunction, kidney stones, urologic cancers and erectile dysfunction. She has been published nationally on several topics including urinary incontinence, videourodynamic testing, kidney stones, and markers for bladder cancer.

Originally from Oregon, Dr. Spettel attended Barnard College in New York for undergraduate studies and graduated from the Drexel University College of Medicine in Philadelphia. She completed her urology residency at Albany Medical College in New York and joined Northwest Urology soon thereafter. She has a special interest in the history of medicine, and won the 2010 Earl Nation Urologic History Award from the American Urologic Association for her research.

She finds a patient-centered approach to medical care is ultimately most satisfying for everyone, as well as the most successful. “The correct diagnosis and best plan of care aren’t helpful unless the patient understands it,” she explains.

Dr. Spettel is excited to have returned home to Oregon to practice medicine. Outside of work, she tries to spend the majority of her time unwinding and having fun with her kids and family.
